Question

I am a model of mixed afro-caribbean and white european heritage. I am considering an augmentation rhinoplasty as I am very pale with blue eyes and I think it will suit my face better and get me even more work.

How long will it be before I can model again? They tend to photoshop out slight imperfections but I need to know how long it will be honestly before my nose will look good? (meaning no bruising and minimal swelling.)

Look forward to hearing from you.

Answer

The bruising tends to take 10-14 days to settle down.

As far as swelling is concerned, it depends very much whether the skin at the tip of the nose is thicker or thinner. Thicker nasal tip skin requires longer to settle down, although you may well be in a position to start working within 3-4 weeks of the surgery.

It is obviously impossible for me to guess whether surgery would be of any benefit to you in your line of work, and the only thing I can do to help you with your decision, is to use 3D imaging and simulation to identify the degree of change that you seek and would be realistic to expect from intervention; I can then give you a 3D PDF file with the image, and you can discuss this with your agent or casting director to understand whether it represents or not an advantage to you.

You need to bear in mind also the fact that the result of surgery is never identical to the computer simulation, with the best of effort and intentions.
