I am looking to have a lower lid blepharoplasty, so surfing the net for what and who is best for me.
Do you do these procedures under local anaesthesia or do you always do them under general?
If you do them under local, what would be the cost?
Simple local anaesthetic is in my opinion not the best choice for lower eyelid blepharoplasty.
The lower eyelid blepharoplasty can be carried out in more simple or complex ways, depending on the problem at hand, and the degree of correction required.
A simple, pinch blepharoplasty would be suitable for local anaesthetic, without a doubt.
A trans-conjunctival lower eyelid blepharoplasty would be more suitable for general anaesthetic or local anaesthesia with intravenous sedation.
A more complex blepharoplasty for the lower eyelid that involves a lower eyelid lift, typically also involves re-distribution of the fatty tissue of the lid, an element of cheek lift and to my mind is better suited to a general anaesthetic or local anaesthetic and intravenous sedation.
