I have a upturned nose, can you tell me, how it can be corrected?
Nasal lengthening refers to increasing the vertical dimensions of the nose without necessarily increasing the projection (how far the nose sticks away from the face).
Depending on how much cartilage is available in the nasal septum, the intervention may require grafting either from the septum or from a different source (the nasal septum is the partition between the right and left nostrils further back inside the head and it is made in part of cartilage and in part of bone).
When there isn't enough cartilage in the nasal septum either because it has been removed from previous surgery, or like in the situation of an ethnic rhinoplasty, I prefer to use rib cartilage graft from the patient in order to provide support for the tip of the nose in the new shape.
