Your questions answered by our surgeon, Lucian Ion, FRCS(Plast)
Asked on 23 May 2014
I am 9 months post op jaw surgery, and my left cheek has developed internal scar tissue, which has left it looking deformed and different from the right.
Do you deal with scar tissue and what procedures can be done to remove the scar tissue?
There are several reasons for asymmetry the jaw line after surgery, not only scar tissue buildup.
In the first instance, I would suggest that you discuss your concerns with your surgeon. He or she may wish to offer some options to improve the situation.
I would be happy to see you in consultation and discuss your concerns, and if need be to organise this as a combined consultation with a maxillofacial colleague of mine.
