Questions & Answers The Surgical Experience About Anaesthesia

Should I undergo septoplasty now, or keep my options open and wait for a few years?

I am an asian guy and I have a small nose. The bridge is straight and the nostrils are not really wide. It looks ok from the front but from the side it looks really flat.

I tried approaching several surgeons but they say there's asymmetry in my face and if they open up my nose it will destroy the harmony. Some even say it looks perfect for an asian and would not do it for me.

The base of my nose is slightly larger than my thumb. Is that like really small?

Besides that, I have a deviated septum that hinders breathing, since I am only 16, the surgeons I have contacted told me to wait for a few years and see if my right jaw (the smaller side) grows, and they need part of the septum for any possible rhinoplasty surgeries.

So I have this question, should I undergo septoplasty now, or keep my options open and wait for a few years?

It is indeed not possible to give an evaluation based on this description.

At the time of the consultation it is possible to assess the characteristics of the nose, and using computer simulations in 3-D to determine the direction for change and based on that, the type of surgery that may be suitable.
