Can you please tell me what percentage of your facial surgery patients are men over the last year?
Apart from scar placement do you have a different technique for dealing with men for face lifts or face surgery?
The proportion is approximately one third men and two thirds women.
One of the differences with regards to management of the neck contour is that in men sometimes I don't need to use skin tightening and scars around the ears, because it is possible to do a more extensive removal of fatty tissue under the skin of the neck without problems related to irregularities.
This is because men have somewhat thicker skin in the area and it is made also different by the presence of the beard. As a result, an anterior neck lift is sometimes suitable even into the early/mid 50s in men, whereas I find that it is unlikely to be suitable in women above mid-30s.
All in all, these characteristics also benefit some men but not others, depending also on the facial contours and laxity of the tissues in the lower face.
