Is it possible to have a necklift without having a general anaesthetic?
It depends on the type of necklift or neck contouring to be undertaken. If it involves primarily tightening of the platysma muscles and reduction of the superficial layer of fatty tissue, a necklift intervention under local anaesthetic and intravenous sedation is eminently possible.
When more advanced contouring is necessary / desired, including therefore work under the platysma muscles of the neck, it is typically a general anaesthetic neck contouring. Deep sedation is also an option but the distinction with a general anaesthetic is rather blurred.
