Question

Eyelids and eye bags surgery, how much and how long you have been practising?

Is there any risks involved?

Answer

There are a number of risks that have been reported over the years in relation to blepharoplasty.

They include:

• Anaesthetic related risks
• Bleeding and bruising
• Infection
• Deep vein thrombosis (for general anaesthesia)
• A degree of asymmetry
• Lagophthalmos
• Ectropion or lower eyelid malposition
• Increased dryness of the eyes
• Visibility of the scars
• Discomfort and occasionally pain
• Chemosis
• Corneal abrasions

Typically, this point are covered more extensively during a consultation. The characteristics of the individuals may influence a particular type of risk and require customising the treatment plan around it.
