Question

I am looking into corrective cheek augmentation as one of my cheekbones is rather sunken in relation to my eye, forehead and nose. I would like to make it more similar to the other one, which is quite prominent.

Are there an particular challenges in having an implant in one cheek?

Answer

Facial asymmetry is the norm, so most what we do this to improve the balance of the facial features, and treatment focused on one side of the face is reasonably common.

I would typically suggest a consultation using 3-D imaging and simulation to try and understand the characteristics of the change that you would like to achieve. Primarily, this is because the characteristics of the local relationships between the eyebrow, eye contour, cheekbone on each side are more relevant than the symmetry across the midline.

The purpose of the consultation then becomes to evaluate the degree of augmentation and what is the best mechanism to achieve it.
