I am 45 female, I have a chubby face and would like to have a buccal fat reduction.
How does this procedure will be performed and how effective are the results?
To a great extent, the choice of procedure for facial contouring and sculpting depends on the quality of the facial skin, and its elasticity.
My approach is to use computer imaging in 3-D for analysis and simulation to decide what it is that you would like to achieve as an endpoint. Based on this, the choice of treatment becomes more logical.
Buccal fat reduction typically removes some of the volume in the central cheek, to produce a more defined shadow below the cheekbone.
More extensive reduction, along the lines of lower face and jaw line contouring, and possibly volume reduction under the chin, which are also part of creating a slimmer and more defined facial shape, may require micro-liposuction. This depends very much on the quality of the overlying skin.
Finally, one of the powerful tools for achieving a slimmer and more defined facial shape would be a short scar facelift, in particular if it is uncertain whether the skin accommodate well the volume reduction, or whether it would also need tightening together with the volume reduction.
