I have dents on both hips, or what might be called a gluteal depression.
I was wondering if a fat transfer would fill up that area, and would one session be enough for a permanent result?
Fat transfer would be a good approach to correction of the gluteal depressions. There are some instances where the attachments of the skin to the deeper structures (fascia) are relatively strong in the gluteal depression region, making it difficult for the fat transfer to stretch and contour the skin.
Using the flanks (love handles) as the donor for the fatty tissue produces a reduction of the contrast with the gluteal depressions and facilitates smoothing the contour out.
In terms of longevity of the result, it is probably fair to say that it would not be permanent as the changes related to ageing typically shall a similar pattern of depression in the lateral gluteal regions, but I would expect the improvement to span over more than 5 years.
