Question

I have had a tiny amount amount of silikon 1000 injected into nose after previous nose surgery with no problems.

I need a small columella scar revision and was wondering in your opinion is it safe to have revision after silikon 1000 injections?

Answer

There are 2 concerns related to scar revision after silicone injections:

• if the silicone was also injected in the area of the scar, wound healing problems are likely.
• if the silicone was injected in a completely different area, and there is an infection appearing around the silicone, it would be impossible to know whether it was because of the surgery or completely independent.

In general, free silicone injections have been associated with problems even long term after treatment, so it may be wiser to let things be.
