Question

I was wondering if a rib graft was required for rhinoplasty surgery, would there be much scarring at the rib area after surgery?

Answer

The donor site scar for rib graft harvesting is usually approximately 4.5 cm long placed 8 to 12 cm below the nipple but toward the mid line.

In most instances, it appears like a line scar, but it can be subject to scar hypertrophy requiring treatment.
