A brow lift can change the expression of the face considerably. It can be performed as an endoscopic brow lift, through small incisions hidden in the hair, or as a temporal lift.
A temporal lift raises the outer part of the eyebrow, which softens the tired or sad look that comes from a drooping brow.
An endoscopic brow lift treats the forehead more fully, including the inner part of the brow, and can weaken very active frown muscles.
Upper and lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is often combined with a facelift.
Together they refresh the whole face. The eyes are assessed together with the brow and the cheek, as the three are closely linked.
The extent of the changes around the eyes decides which approach suits you, and this is discussed at consultation.
With age the face loses volume as well as firmness, which leads to hollows and shadows, particularly around the eyes and in the cheeks.
Older facelifts that only tightened the skin could give a stretched, tight look. A deep plane facelift restores much of the fullness of the cheek by repositioning it, and fat transfer can add volume where it has been lost.
Your own fat, carefully prepared, is placed in small amounts. Care is taken not to add too much, so that the face looks natural.
A facelift treats the cheeks, jowls and jawline. Other areas, such as the neck, brow, eyelids and volume of the face, often benefit from treatment at the same time, so that the whole face looks balanced. A deep contouring neck lift is the most common addition.
Which of these suits you is discussed in detail while planning, so that the combination matches your priorities.
